The Rising Sun 'Soorya’vanshi’
The Rising Sun 'Soorya’vanshi’
The young boy made his IPL debut in 2025, smashing his first century, 101 runs against the Gujarat Titans in 38 balls. The boy from Tajpur village, Samastipur, Bihar, who worked hard to pursue his passion, ably supported by his father, is now the new Champion of the World Under-19 group and the emerging superstar of the Indian Premier League.
The rise of the rising Sun ‘Soorya’vanshi’, in itself, is a fairy tale story. From the dusty fields of his village to the coaching camp in Patna, the seeds were sown very early for a young legend to rule the world of cricket. Impressed by Vaibhav’s natural game and his hard-hitting style using the wrist efficiently from that very early age, his coach Manish Ojha sharpened his skills further and also made him a fierce cricketing boy to face the best of the lot.
His childhood coach always ensured that Vaibhav faced the seniors during practice sessions at the Cricket Academy in Patna to prepare him for the big games. As the days progressed, Vaibhav sharpened his skills and really made it to the big state of the Ranji Trophy. Though unable to make a big impact in his debut game, he later established himself for his State team with some big scores.
The Turnaround :
The major turnaround came as a blessing to Vaibhav when he was spotted by the great Indian batsman and BCCI centre of excellence head VVS Laxman in one of the U-19 Challenger tournaments. VVS Laxman identified Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and became the key man in shaping his career.
Vaibhav was under the direct supervision of VVS Laxman during the U-19 quadrangular series against England and Bangladesh. In one of the games, Vaibhav returned to the dressing room in tears after being run out for 36. The emotional moment caught the attention of VVS Laxman, who found the passion in his eyes and consoled him and told him in apt words, “We don't only see the runs here, we see the talent who have the skill for the long run and will remain on the big stage.”
Manish Ojha, the childhood coach of Vaibhav, confesses it was VVS Laxman who kept a close watch on him and tracked his progress regularly. Once Laxman was confident of Vaibhav’s mental progress, along with his on-field game, he introduced Vaibhav to Rahul Dravid to keep a watch on him.
IPL 2025 brought a new sensation, a crowd puller and the new craze amongst the young Indians to rule the white ball format, be it either the Under-19 World Cup or the Indian Premier League.
Scoring 252 runs in the IPL 2025 with one century and one fifty at a strike rate of 206.55, Vaibhav became the new star on the horizon.
The words became true, Vaibhav’s passion overrode all aspirations, and he made his intentions clear to rule the game with his powerful batting. In this format of the game, power play remains the most crucial part, as are the death overs, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is the champion of the power play.
The IPL 2026 saw some extraordinary batting, amazing records being broken, and a player single-handedly tearing off the opposition. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was at his best till the last game, when the Rajasthan Royals were defeated by the Gujarat Titans.
The sensational moment with Vaibhav scoring a classy knock of 96 runs (47 balls) against the Gujarat Titans, 97 runs (29 balls) against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, both in the knockout stage, and a string of good scores with another 93 against Lucknow Super Giants, a century (103 in 37 balls) against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the league games, make him the new superstar of the Premier League.
Is it the nervous nineties or playing for his team that eluded him three more centuries. The natural stroke play and the team mindset rules his mind while scoring at breathtaking strike rate. Aware of his score but keeping the team priority over personal landmark makes him a different player from others.
The amazing Accolades :
The amazing journey in the 2026 edition of IPL gave the cricketing fans a treat for their eyes with an all-around stroke play by ‘Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’. He astonished everyone by hitting the first ball sixes against the best of the best bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Lungi Ngidi. The achievements by the wonder boy have mesmerised the Cricketing World.
Completed his 1000 runs in the IPL tournament in 23 innings (440 balls).
Strike rate of 237.31, total runs of 776 in 16 innings (327 balls), remains a testimony to his powerful stroke play.
In a single IPL season, he broke the record of Chris Gayle in hitting the maximum sixes. Finishing the season with a staggering 72 sixes is itself a record of all sorts.
The powerplay dominance: 521 runs scored. 46 sixes in 223 balls in powerplay is a record with 4 fifty-plus scores.
The passion to Perform, commitment to Win, and the resolution to be the Champion are visible in his emotions when the tears run down the young prodigy's cheeks, when his team fails to be in the top.
Vaibhav, "you played a great game and put in so much effort. The outcome doesn't change how good you are."
The Champions are born to win... every defeat makes them stronger with a resolve to win....Cricket fraternity now awaits to see Vaibhav in T20 & One Day Internationals.
